Failure

I have been a bit of an absentee blogger these days. Whether it is lack of time or lack of ideas, I just haven't found myself sitting down and getting a post worked out. In spite of my own shortcomings, I have been getting really great steady traffic, and was even given an award from a fellow blogger who had some lovely things to say about my writing here. You can check him out at Good Youngman Brown, but only if you like to read really smart, hilarious writing.

I think everyone agrees that the hardest thing about blogging is coming up with steady, relevant, and interesting content. When I first started doing this and was really involved in the how-tos and what-you-shouldn'ts of successful blogging, I read a lot of advice on how churning out at least 3 or 4 posts a week is tantamount to building a following. With that in mind, I often felt like I wasn't doing my job when I only managed one a week, if that. Hah. Failing at self-appointed, non-paying jobs is kinda funny, isn't it?



But my good reader, I have come to realize it just isn't that important to hit those marks all the time. I am so, so content to have the ears of a few loyal followers who appreciate my work and acknowledge that my words might make them think for a moment, or are a starting point for change or creation in their own lives. With that in mind, this is what I am committing to here: I promise that if I have something I feel is worth sharing, you are going to hear about it. And I promise that I am never going to fill in the cracks just to keep my stats from dipping. Granted you might not like everything you read, but at least you can always be assured that I am not wasting your time. Because your time is precious, I swear.

Oh, and good news. I have a few things to share, so don't you worry. It might take me a minute to get my thoughts sorted out after spending an inspiring week in paradise meeting and talking with beautiful people who aren't afraid to dream, but I imagine it will come together as it needs to.
